AB 1670: Universal Healthcare Act of 2005. This bill would establish an individual mandate to maintain health insurance, establish a quasi-public purchasing pool, establish a partnership plan for certain qualified employers and provide for enforcement and funding of the above provisions. AB 1675: MediCal Prescription Drug Consumer Protection Act. This bill would prohibit the inclusion of non-generic drugs on the Medi-Cal formulary unless it can be demonstrated that they will improve patient outcomes, it will also establish guidelines for the use of drugs not on the Medi-Cal formulary. AB 1676: Advanced Directives and Terminal Illness Education. This bill would direct the Department of Health Services and the Department of Motor Vehicles to implement and maintain a system for providing information about end of life care and decisions relating to terminal illnesses, and establish a registry of Advanced Health Care Directives.
